This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) defines the rules governing use of the Fetchly API and platform. By using Fetchly, you agree to comply with this policy. Violations may result in account suspension or termination.
Overview
Fetchly provides a media extraction API for legitimate developer use cases: building applications, tools, research projects, and services that benefit end users. The API must be used responsibly and in compliance with applicable laws and the terms of the platforms from which content is extracted.
Permitted Uses
- Building applications that help users save, organize, or access media they are entitled to view
- Academic and non-commercial research into media distribution and platform architecture
- Content archival tools for personal or organizational use, where permitted by source platforms
- AI and machine-learning pipelines that process media under fair use or with appropriate licensing
- Creator tools that help content owners manage and repurpose their own content
- Testing and development within your quota limits
Prohibited Uses
The following uses are strictly prohibited:
- Mass scraping for redistribution: Using the API to extract and republish media at scale without authorization from content owners or source platforms.
- Illegal content extraction: Extracting content that violates copyright, privacy laws, or any applicable regulations in your jurisdiction.
- Credential sharing: Sharing your API key with third parties, selling API access, or embedding keys in publicly accessible client-side code.
- Rate-limit circumvention: Creating multiple free accounts to bypass rate limits, using proxies to obscure request origins, or any automated technique designed to exceed your quota.
- Harassment or harm: Using the API to extract personal media for the purpose of harassment, doxxing, or facilitating harm to individuals.
- Malware or phishing: Using the API in any system designed to distribute malware, conduct phishing, or deceive users.
- Infrastructure abuse: Sending requests designed to crash, overload, or degrade the Fetchly API or its underlying infrastructure.
Rate Limit Policy
All Fetchly accounts are subject to rate limits, enforced to ensure fair access for all users. Current limits by tier:
| Tier | Per Minute | Per Day | Per Month |
|---|
| Free | 5 | 1,000 | 5,000 |
| Pro | 60 | 10,000 | 100,000 |
| Business | 120 | 50,000 | 500,000 |
Requests exceeding rate limits receive a 429 Too Many Requests response. Persistent rate-limit violations may trigger temporary account suspension. Enterprise customers with higher needs should contact us for custom limits.
Enforcement
We actively monitor API usage patterns for abuse. When a violation is detected:
- Warning: For first-time or borderline violations, we will send an email notification explaining the issue and the required corrective action.
- Suspension: Continued or severe violations will result in temporary account suspension. Your API keys will be revoked and the account locked pending review.
- Termination: Egregious or repeated violations will result in permanent account termination without refund.
Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any misuse of the Fetchly API that violates this policy, please report it to devikontech@gmail.com. Include as much detail as possible — we investigate all reports seriously.
